@Dacosta I’ll give it my best.
I’m really afraid of needles, so I’ve never donated blood. But since I’m O neg, nothing motivates me to visit a blood clinic the next time I’m in a city that has one (I don’t live near one), just so I have the card in case of an emergency like this. I am aware of my value as a donor.
was on a 10-day cruise on the Crown Princess in 2019. An ambulance removed a person from the ship at five ports. I’m glad the staff managed to keep the man alive until they landed, but if things hadn’t improved in the past ten years, I would have preferred to wait in Ensenada until we reached US territory.
Unless the patient decides to share with you, it’s highly unlikely that you will find out due to medical privacy regulations and professional norms.
Although I can appreciate inquiry, I wouldn’t want someone to try to find out details about my health.me.
Blood donations were requested for our Celebrity Solstice (September 1, 2024, Vancouver to Alaska), and enough donors responded, as evidenced by a subsequent notification stating no more volunteers were required. The patient required hospital treatment, therefore they acted to hasten their return home on the final day. That person seems okay, I hope.
I have been on ocean crossings, and sadly people do die. Cruise ships are well prepared for medical emergencies and generally do a very good job. Emergencies happen more than most people realize, and the crew regularly practice drills while passengers are a shore. I hope you fellow passengers is ok. For people who are worried about this, the best thing you can get is Med jet. It is a service (not insurance) that if you are hospitalized and want to get back home and are able to transported, you get a medical transport to your home hospital. So for your fellow passenger, I would not want to stay in Mexico. And the last medical emergency I was on the ship, the passenger got offloaded to Dominican Republic …. Again, if it was me, I would want to go to a US based hospital as soon as I was stable. Med jet is the service.
@Hudson Doesn’t the travel insurance cover that? Every time I received medical insurance in a foreign nation, which was nearly yearly and from several providers, I had this.
