Are you a cruiser of any kind?

The various kinds of cruisers I’ve encountered throughout the years have been on my mind. Because I enjoy trying out new experiences, I refer to myself as a “adventure cruiser.” However, there are also individuals who prefer to unwind and concentrate on their meal, or who enjoy inverting their pineapples for amusement.

What sort of cruiser do you consider yourself to be?

More of an adventurous cruiser, I suppose. As soon as feasible, I want to go from point A to point B. Cruises with the fewest feasible sea days are the ones I pick.

@Hudson However, I wish they had all stamped passports

I consider myself to be an all-around cruiser. If the price is right, I’ll travel virtually anywhere for whatever long I want to spend on any ship.

We head out of the kitchen for a break :plate_with_cutlery:

I’m a daring cruiser who also appreciates the ship. While in port, I’m happy to go, go, go, but I also like to spend sea days relaxing and exploring the ship. We decided to skip Italy on our Greek Islands trip in order to spend a few days at sea. Strongly advised! It was great to have some sea days to break up the seven consecutive port days.

Mostly depends on how I’m feeling and the turmoil in my life the week before I leave.

If everything is fine, I want to do stuff and have experiences.

I want to collapse in a deck chair with a bottomless Pina Colada if it’s a five alarm shit show.

I am the kind of cruiser that says, “Give me an umbrella drink, a comfy lounger, and my book.” Since I live in a city with a ton of nightlife, museums, theater, and fantastic restaurants, I want to slow down when I’m on vacation.

Began the journey. Better food and service, beverages, and relaxation now. Will take an excursion if it piques my curiosity, but I’m content to enjoy everything the ship has to offer.

We’re rooster foodies. Our destination is the ship.

Inexpensive cruiser.

I only cruise when it’s less expensive than remaining on land and going out to dine.

My previous three vacations this year have averaged between 50 and 70 euros per night, including gratuities, for Mediterranean cruises that last five to nine nights.

And this is solo price, when we often have to pay at least 20% more than the per-person price if double-sharing.

Unwinding yet well-organized cruiser.

I enjoy cruises that have a lot of ports, usually no more than one sea day. When in port, I would much rather go on an organized tour than just wander and explore on my own. In this manner, I can somewhat predict what I will receive. I’m not the type to act on impulse.

We prefer quiet time to unwind after our excursion days, therefore my spouse and I choose luxurious accommodations like The Haven on NCL’s ships. We plan to compare The Retreat on Celebrity and eventually look into the quieter, luxury lines since, as childless, middle-aged adults without children, we believe we are their target market. For us, Royal Caribbean and Carnival would be a nightmare.

Easygoing and unsociable. I may occasionally strike up a conversation, but I always do what I want, when I want.

Somewhat Impulsive.

If we see an excursion ahead of time that looks like a blast, we’ll book it.

Otherwise, we’ll do two things that have always had surprise results (most good, some flops).

If the excursion looks like it goes to some “must see” spots but it’s long and dominates our time on shore, we’ll screenshot the locations and then see it ourselves.

If nothing about any excursion excites us, we’ll simply travel out into the location - especially if it’s Spanish speaking. We’ve found some real gems that way, and met some really kind locals.

But yes - we accept the risk of bad ceviche, nasty places and people trying to scam you too.

Then there’s places like Nassau. A restaurant we like, otherwise we’ve been there too many times. We just don’t see the value of Atlantis.

Someone who is antisocial and content to simply enjoy nice music and blue sea. Good cuisine is a bonus, but I’ll settle with mediocre, haha. All I want is to read while sitting in the shade and be left alone.

Although I believe my style is minority, I don’t mind at all, hehe.

We’re only getting ready for our first cruise, but we like to mix leisure with sightseeing, I think. When we travel, we usually walk a lot and explore the new spot we find ourselves in before relaxing with a drink and some light entertainment (books, TV, or phone games) under the stars. We don’t mind taking a day off after spending a day or two being tourists to just hang out, sleep in, or do whatever makes us feel good.

Enjoy eating and unwinding. We don’t cruise for the destination, but it’s an interesting port, so we might hop off for a stroll around.
