MSC Changes Drinks Package… Does Anyone Know More?

I saw this post in a MSC Voyagers Club group on Facebook. Does anyone else know anything about it?

They updated the drinks packages starting December 18, 2024, for cruises from April 1, 2025, onward.

The new packages will include unlimited non-alcoholic drinks and up to 15 alcoholic drinks per person per day.

This will allow guests to enjoy cocktails, beers, wines, and spirits, while still promoting a responsible approach to drinking. It helps maintain high-quality service and a fun atmosphere.

If you bought a drinks package before December 18, 2024, you’ll still get the same benefits as before.

If you want more than 15 alcoholic drinks, you can buy extras for a charge.

MSC Yacht Club guests will get unlimited drinks inside the Yacht Club, but the 15-drink limit will apply in all other areas of the ship.

Here’s the original post to keep a record of what was written.

Anyone else remember the paper drink vouchers MSC used to have? Those were awesome.

Yeah, I remember getting 12 vouchers each for my family of 5 when we were on the Seaside in 2018. The kids couldn’t use them for booze, so we used 4 for gelato, and my wife and I had 24 vouchers each for booze the whole week lol. I think they stopped doing that by the time we went back in March 2022 after the pandemic.

MSC has the best drink deals, so I get why they have a limit. It’s good that they don’t count non-alcoholic drinks like cappuccinos against the 15.

I can go months without drinking at home. But when I’m on vacation, I go all out. 15 drinks a day is easy for me.

So easy, especially if you start with mimosas at breakfast. Honestly, I’d pay more for an unlimited package, even if I didn’t drink that much. I like knowing I can drink as much as I want without worrying about the cost. It helps me relax and enjoy myself more.

That’s why I go with NCL. I haven’t had a drink since July, but on their ships, there are no limits.

That sounds dangerous to me.

Sounds like Carnival’s Cheers package – unlimited non-alcoholic drinks, but 15 alcoholic drinks max. The difference is MSC lets you buy more after 15 drinks, but Carnival cuts you off.

Carnival cuts you off even if you have the Cheers package. I think what they’re trying to stop is a different issue…

That’s pretty normal for most cruise lines. If you’re drinking more than 15 drinks a day, you might have bigger issues.

I think this actually encourages better drinking habits. If I had to count waters and coffees as part of my 15 drinks, I probably wouldn’t get them. But now I can get as much bottled water with my alcoholic drinks, which helps me keep a good balance.

@Bin
I don’t think it’s a good thing. It’s frustrating.

@Bin
With Carnival, you get unlimited non-alcoholic drinks, but only 15 alcoholic ones. On a sea day, it’s easy to hit 15.

Does anyone know what this means for drinks on Ocean Cay? Also, I’m guessing doubles won’t be allowed?

I think it’s like an extension of the ship, so you still get 15 drinks total for that day.

Can someone explain the two dates? I’m cruising in January and want the unlimited drinks. Do I need to buy my package before December 18th?

This change starts for cruises from April 1, 2025. Cruises before then will follow the old drinks package rules.

@Pax
Maybe it’s an April Fools joke or something.
