Alaska or Europe? Which one should we pick for a cruise…

Hey everyone, my wife and I are planning a cruise but we can’t decide between Alaska or Europe. We did a Mediterranean cruise in 2017 and visited places like Rome, Santorini, Sicily, Naples, Mykonos, and Athens. We had a great time. I’d love to go back to Rome and Naples but I’m torn between the stunning views of Alaska and the variety of Europe. I haven’t done much research on Northern Europe yet, but I hear it’s a very different experience from the Mediterranean. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Alaska is amazing! I think you’d love it if you’re into nature and wildlife!

How many days are you planning for the cruise, and where are you coming from?

If you’ve been to Alaska before, I’d suggest trying the Norwegian fjords. This can be combined with a trip to the Northern British Isles or Iceland. The fjords offer breathtaking scenery. But depending on where you’re coming from, you might have some rough seas and not-so-great ports before you reach the beautiful spots.

Another great Northern Europe cruise is the one from Copenhagen to Stockholm. Sadly, St. Petersburg is off-limits due to the current situation, which is a shame since it was a highlight of Baltic cruises.

How about doing Alaska this time and then heading back to the Mediterranean for your next trip? You can’t go wrong with either!

I went to Alaska last year and loved it! If you’re into nature, it’s definitely worth it. I’ll be going back for sure!

Northern Europe might be the best of both worlds. There are cruises that give you beautiful scenery and also a taste of old-world city life. You could try cruises to Iceland, Norway, or the Faroe Islands. If you’re after more remote places, you might want to look at cruises that stop in Greenland or Newfoundland too. The animal viewing in Alaska is great though, so it really depends on what you’re looking for.

If you decide on Alaska, make sure your cruise includes Glacier Bay. It’s an unforgettable experience!

I did a Baltic cruise this summer, visiting Poland, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, and Lithuania, and it was the best cruise ever. The variety of things we saw and the different historical periods was amazing.

There’s still plenty to see in the Mediterranean. Don’t forget about all the wonderful spots there!

I’ve done both—the Mediterranean twice and Alaska twice. The Mediterranean is amazing for history, but Alaska has incredible nature and wildlife. I think Alaska offers more variety than the Med, at least in terms of landscapes and experiences.
