Anyone used a VPN on Carnival Cruises recently?

Hey everyone, I’m curious if anyone here has been able to get a VPN working on iPhones and MacBooks while on a Carnival cruise? Four years ago, I had a VPN I used, but I stopped getting the Wi-Fi to save some cash. Now that I have it on this cruise, I’d love to use a VPN again to access blocked sites on the cheaper value plan.

Here’s a copy of the original post to preserve it:

I’m not sure about Carnival specifically, but I used NordVPN on my iPhone and Mac to watch Youtube TV on a Holland America cruise from Baja California, and it worked perfectly.

Thanks for sharing! I’ve been looking into 1.1.1.1 and NordVPN, but some say Nord is blocked on Carnival.

I had success using NordVPN on my iPhone with the cheaper value plan during my Carnival cruise back in September. I’m going on another cruise soon and can update you on whether it still works.

That would be awesome, I leave on January 11. If you have updated info, it would really help me to know which one to use.

From my experience, you’ll need the streaming plan to use a VPN. They either block it, use a HTTP proxy, or the connection just isn’t stable enough for a VPN to work.

I’ve used a VPN before and don’t remember which one I used. It didn’t slow anything down, and I was able to use it on my laptop.

NordVPN is usually a solid choice, but it really depends on the ship’s network. Some ships have great connections, while others have such high latency that the VPN keeps dropping. One time, I had to upgrade the Wi-Fi package.

ExpressVPN works, but you need to have it downloaded, installed, and your account set up before you get on the ship. You won’t be able to do any of this on the ship’s Wi-Fi!
