Are Carnival cruises really that awful?

It seems like everyone complains about Carnival cruises in the articles I read about them. Perhaps not on Cruise Talkforum, though. Not everyone talks negatively about it. Should we take it into account for our family’s multigenerational Alaskan cruise? It appears to be reasonably priced. RC and NCL are now leading the pack. I’ve only taken cruises with NCL and HAL. Both of these were enjoyable to me! Although my 80-year-old in-laws claim it’s too dull for our children in the 11–25 age range, I would participate in HAL again for Alaska! Although I disagree with them, perhaps they just go out more than I do!

No, it’s not that horrible. Excellent games, comedy, and television. With their casino offers, they also appear to be appealing to gamblers.

Better quality shows and tons of kid-friendly toys on board Royal’s various ships are features. Not so much for Alaska, though. Here, I would examine this carefully.

Nevertheless, check out the ship’s reviews and itinerary. Cheap 3/4-night FL cruises are the source of all the noise you hear. That is not what this is.

@Salish Yes, precisely. I assumed that everything I read about was about fast visits to the tropics. I find it hard to imagine everyone getting wasted in the fjord.

@Nidal The partygoers don’t want to go there. Seattle and Vancouver are purposefully deliberate (and not cheap from the East as FL is).

We’ve cruised on Carnival, NCL, RC, VV, and Disney ships.

Carnival is alright. You’ll be OK if you avoid the shorter cruises departing from Florida. Examine the evaluations of the various ships and itineraries, then make your decision.

@Mitchelle Disney is something we really want to do, but I just can’t explain paying so much for it! :sob::sob: and we adore Disney! Going on a Disney cruise is like not leaving Hawaii on account of the high cost of everything here!

@Nidal Disney is just too costly, even for their own benefit

@Meech I would lose my asshole on a Disney trip, which is why I know it makes me sad! But even if I could afford it, I just couldn’t do it. It is incorrect! I can’t afford it! Taking my family to Disney Tokyo is a more cost-effective option for me than taking a Disney cruise!

Our first family cruise was to Disney. It was our son’s least favorite cruise when he was younger. He grew up on Disney, and we were Disney fans too—we had owned a DVC for decades. I don’t think the expense is justified. When he was younger, he liked royal. He has worked on and been content with Virgin and Carnival as an adult.

@Mitchelle I appreciate the information you provided. Carnival may be creeping up on our RC!

Alaska is included on the Carnival Spirit itinerary. We have reservations for a few Caribbean sailings on it this year. I can offer you some information on the ship in November if you can wait until then.

Is five days enough to avoid being a drunken cruise?

@Mboks Which port, what’s the itinerary, and when are you leaving from? Summer travel from Canaveral/Miami to the Bahamas may be riskier than fall travel from Galveston to Mexico. Even yet, success ultimately depends on chance and the eclectic mix of other attendees.

@Mboks That trip seems like it would be amazing! Should I myself be contemplating the trip, I would not think twice.

Carnival is often perceived as the Walmart of cruise ships. Stereotypes are real, as everyone knows.

Nevertheless, occasionally a wonderful experience may be had at Walmart, and Carnival offers some respectable, more recent ships, so it can be all right.

My recommendation would be to steer clear of the individuals who lend them said notoriety by looking at the more costly Carnival sailings and ships.

@Jordan There aren’t any selections based on Alaska, they’re the cheapest, lol. Occasionally, I enjoy going to Walmart without my kids.

@Nidal Alaska ought to be wonderful. Particularly beware of the three- to six-day Caribbean ones. I have never seen so many disgusting people in my life.
