Cruise ports in Tampa and Fort Lauderdale are connected

I want to know if it’s possible to get off a cruise ship in Tampa early in the morning (the arrival time stated is 6 am) and board a boat in Fort Lauderdale (the Royal Caribbean) that departs at 4 pm. Given that there will be two of us, I’m thinking about taking an Uber. Does that sound plausible and trustworthy?

Although I haven’t done it, it appears manageable with a little amount of leeway.

4:00 PM Since sailing requires you to board by 2:30 PM, you should arrive at the cruise port by no later than 2:00 PM, IMO.

You want some buffer for petrol, traffic, etc. because it appears like it will take four hours to drive between the two ports (no stops and regular traffic).

Should I take this action, I’d

Obtain adequate travel insurance

I quickly got off the first boat with my bags. By 9 AM, at the latest, I would like to be behind the wheel (the earlier, the better).

Plan ahead for a dependable vehicle service instead of relying on Uber :crossed_fingers:

@Camilla I concur with your evaluation. OP must go, go, go. A one-way rental could also be an option, in my opinion. Generally speaking, the best route is Interstate 75. If there were traffic problems on 75 or Allison Avenue, I would utilize WAZE to avoid the traffic.

@Candy Would undoubtedly be less expensive, but I’m not sure they could escape the potential time crunch that the rental car would cause if they run out of cars or get stopped in line.

If you have the specifics down pat, the timing of leaving the boat by 9 a.m. and arriving in Fort Lauderdale for shipping by 3 p.m. coincides. You’ll need them since, although it’s conceivable, an accident could force you to travel further. It will probably be stressful because there may be unknowns. There are flights that may also be effective (silver, for instance). I have no idea how much Uber would cost.

I believe renting a car is the best option. Look for someone who can both drop you off and pick you up. You should remove your bags as soon as possible in order to pick up the car, travel there, leave it off, and reach the next port. The drive takes around four hours. Most likely under $100.

Doing that is not too difficult. Flying nonstop on Southwest would save you roughly $100 altogether, but the times don’t coincide for the days I checked.

@Gordon Other alternatives are Spirit and Silver Airways.

Is there a reason you’re not examining one of the TPA-FLL direct flights instead?

What does a four-hour Uber ride cost?

Very dangerous. It will all need to go flawlessly. Finding an Uber driver prepared to travel that far, arriving on time, and having no traffic delays at all are all important factors. I would never take a chance on it.

Uber would cost a lot of money. You might think about taking one from Tampa to the Brightline station in Orlando. The three-hour train ride to FLL costs roughly $80 per person. To go to the port from the station, you should take a quick Uber.
