How much would you tip the stateroom attendant after your kid got sick from the soft serve machine on a cruise?

My 12-year-old went a bit wild with the soft serve machine on our recent cruise and ended up sick in the night. Nothing seemed like enough, but the attendant was really nice about it. How much would you tip someone for dealing with something like this?

Here’s a copy of the original post to keep it on record as it was originally written.

Nothing seemed like enough, but he was very kind about it.

Regurgitation of the Seas had me cracking up. But seriously, the best thing you can do is get his name and mention it in the survey. It can get him bonuses, extra time off, and other perks. I’d probably tip $20, since I’m one of those parents who, when my kid does something gross, just yells, ‘TAKE MY MONEY!’ to anyone kind enough to clean up.

$100 and an email to the cruise line where you praise him as much as possible. Something like: ‘Crisanto, our excellent steward on Regurgitation of the Seas, has been as amazing as a 6-foot-1 man with brown eyes and a dazzling customer service smile can be…’

Regurgitation of the Seas had me laughing too.

Hahahaha ‘Regurgitation of the Seas’ :joy:

I tipped the guys $50 each (there were two of them) when my kids got sick and threw up. It was the least I could do for a quick sheet change.

I think $20 extra would be fair for the extra work they had to do.

That’s really kind of you. I imagine attendants probably deal with a lot of adult regurgitation too, with less thanks or extra pay.
