Ben and David’s latest video on youtube was a brutal review of Norwegian Epic. They were on a 10 day cruise out of Rome during the Paralympics this summer. Were any of you on that sailing or a similar one this summer in the Med on the Epic? What was your experience like? The only thing they seemed to like was the food and the crew members. It was pretty bad.

It’s not fun to watch “brutal” reviews, but I understand why they constantly focus on the negatives. That being said, the images speak for themselves; the ship’s dated appearance is one thing, and it’s obvious that repairs and maintenance are desperately needed. I’m glad they also mentioned their appreciation for the food, even though they couldn’t help but harp on the thin selection at the buffet every time they did.

I do not subscribe to them as they are too positive, usually only commenting negatively if there’s a non-issue

@Adele I don’t think they emphasize the negative elements of the ships. They are pretty fair and balanced.

If they pay for the cruise themselves they hardly give positives I find if its an ad cruise they will not say negatives even though they claim to be honest reviewers.

Even though there is a lot of competition these days from cruise-style YouTubers, Ben and David are still my favorites because of their candor.

Their frequent mispronunciation of words, their apparent lack of understanding of ‘posh’ items, and their upbeat demeanor only when they are sponsored make it impossible for me to take them seriously.
The cruise line provides stock film for many of their videos, and they are always “good” voyages.

I also felt that the review was harsh! In August, I took a Med sailing aboard it. It was a clickbait headline, really.

@Jayden Were any of the damaged sites they were pointing out visible to you? Commenters claim that the problematic spots are only on the upper deck. Would you concur with that? I appreciate your response, as I was hoping to hear from someone who had lately been on her.

I simply cannot watch David and Ben. Their personalities just irritate me so much, for whatever reason.

I haven’t seen the video, but took that cruise on the Epic in June, and had a great time. The rooms were comfortable and clean, the restaurants and buffets were clean and had tons of fresh food (fresh cut fruit, salad bars) with lots of options, and I thought the food in general was good (I ate mostly at the buffet, but also tried the steak house, the Brazilian restaurant, Shanghai, Taste, and one other). All the staff were super nice too.
I guess I don’t understand thinking the ship is gross. All the interior parts were clean, and it’s hard to keep the outside sections brand new with the salt water and elements but I saw people cleaning, painting, mopping the deck, spraying the balconies all the time.

@Mboks It is something you ought to watch. It seems that the ship has experienced a difficult summer. They displayed an incredible amount of damaged railings, closed-off steps, corroded sections, missing tiles, damaged pool stairs, etc. In case it wasn’t evident, on their cruise, half or even all of the slides weren’t functioning. The sheer number of rolls of “police tape” used to barricade things startled me a little.

@Nidal The interior areas were clean. It was a lot of the top deck / outside areas that they showed with dirty floors, shoddy unkempt and rusting junctions and walls. To be fair. A lot of those areas were not set up but others were…the spice H2O area surprised me with the state of it. But they did praise the food and the staff. NCL really needs to give their original mega ship some deep DLC.
