What’s the best way to find a cheap Alaska cruise? Is a balcony worth it?

I’m planning to go on an Alaska cruise. What’s the best cruise line for it? Would getting an inside room to save money ruin the experience?

You mentioned ‘best’ in your post but ‘cheapest’ in your title. Which one are you actually looking for?

You can’t really have both. If you want cheap, Carnival is a good option. They have affordable cruises, but they book out really far in advance. For example, I’ve already booked next year’s August cruise because these sell out fast.

You don’t need a balcony, but it can be a nice luxury. Honestly, I like a large window more than a balcony. On ships like the Miracle, there are big windows everywhere, and a lot of people just sit in the common areas to enjoy the view.

People can only tell you about their personal experience with one or two cruise lines. Most cruises to Alaska hit the same ports, so there’s not a huge difference between them.

As for the inside cabin, it depends on what you’re okay with. A balcony is great, but there are lots of public spaces on the ship to enjoy the views. Plus, if you’re cruising outside of summer, it might be too cold to use the balcony much while the ship is moving.

I booked the 9th May trip here: https://www.vacationstogo.com/ticker.cfm?r=9&incCT=y&l=14&s=172&sm=20255&tm=20255&rm=2.

Just a heads-up: make sure you budget for excursions. Alaska excursions are pricey, even if you don’t book directly with the cruise line.

I went to Alaska in September, and we had a deluxe balcony. Guess what? We barely used it. It was much easier to go to the big outdoor deck areas, and we didn’t spend much time in our room at all.

I know some people love their balconies, but if you’re planning to stay active and explore, an inside cabin is a great way to save money.
