I want to know what was the finest deal you ever found (or have heard of) when it came to booking a cruise, whether it was two years ago or two decades ago. Considering things like cheap cruises or the best value depending on the cruise line, ports visited, etc. I’m curious to know how previous experiences stack up against current cruise offers.
On a Queen Mary 2 transatlantic 8-night voyage, my spouse and I paid less than $2k for a balcony room. Taking into account the price of an inside space… That strikes me as a great deal.
I recently returned from an Oasis OTS cruise. Our family of four was pricing out neighboring rooms with balconies overlooking Central Park when we discovered that reserving a Grand Suite for four people would only add $500 to the total cost (taxes included). My best cruise purchase to yet.
$600 ncl for a 10-day solo Mediterranean cruise with a standard inside room.
The price for two people was waived. Furthermore, taxes and port fees were included in the stated sum. A bit under 600, to be exact. It was 2015. I haven’t seen anything comparable since. I guess it was significantly undersold.
In late 2019, my spouse and I reserved a 4-night balcony cruise on the Divina for $99 per person (before taxes and fees), back when MSC was still relatively new in the US. The discounts undoubtedly persisted after COVID, but I recall thinking that the pricing had to be a promotional offer to pique people’s interest in MSC because it was far nicer than some of the Carnival and Norwegian ships I had experienced.
While I am aware that not everyone feels the same way about MSC, I still think it offers the finest value in cruising.
@Candy What issue does MSC have?
@Dacosta Customers bemoan the quality of the food and service. Most likely, they are the most contentious cruise line. However, I genuinely adore them and think they’re the best deal on cruises.
60 nights aboard a Celebrity (inside a stateroom) seeing Japan, India, and Singapore. Each day is $46 and includes unlimited internet, alcohol, and gratuities.
A hurricane would either force it to be two more days.

Rebooking, changing ships, and not canceling due to COVID resulted in a $800 OBC.
