Which is better for a three- or four-night cruise to the Bahamas—MSC, Virgin, Royal, or Celebrity, and why?

It’ll be our first cruise, just my girlfriend and I, and we’re both in our early 20s. Neither of us is particularly gregarious.

Virgin is a great blend of fun and relaxation. On that ship, there’s something for everyone. And no children.

@Jayden Another benefit that convinced me to book our first trip with Virgin was that all meals were covered. ALL of it, even the posh eateries. I thought that was a great victory.

Star. I’m the same way with my wife. Lots many senior adults and very few children. It’s essentially a floating assisted living facility that offers decent cuisine and unlimited alcohol.

@Mboks That really is how I feel. Being youthful is something I enjoy. I prefer to wake up at six and go to bed at nine, lol.

Early 20s: Virgin, unless you want go-karts and water slides.

Virgin because the likelihood of it being an all-out inebriation feast is extremely low.

Either is good. Try MSC.

Price seems like it could be a problem. I took one MSC and two Carnival cruises. Those two lines appear to be more affordable and regarded as lower end. The performance and food were on level with each other. Carnival is sometimes a little goofy because it places a lot of emphasis on FUN. Carnival offered several tasty specialty dishes. Of all the ships we visited, the MSC Seascape was undoubtedly the most elegant and brand-new. All those cruises were perfectly great by me, but I suppose other people just have higher expectations.

They all have very different missions.

Royal Caribbean is family friendly with activities like water slides, go karts and laser tag (depending on the ship). It’s hard not to have fun on Royal Caribbean. There’s something for everyone.

Celebrity is the “premium” version of the same line (its owned by Royal Caribbean) but actually can be lower in price (again depending on the ship). It skews older and has more nice lounge spaces and gardens/lawns if that’s your vibe.

Virgin is quite pricey in my experience but has great food and a more LGBT friendly/alternative atmosphere. It’s marketed as cruising for people who would otherwise never cruise (but whether the passenger demographics actually reflect this is up for debate). It’s also adults only.

I know by far the least about MSC but it’s the cheapest and has mediocre reviews. If just hanging on a ship on a budget is your priority, it should be fine. Don’t expect as much out of the food or entertainment.
